1 Mar - Chepes Beach-2 Snorkeling

1 Mar - Chepes Beach-2 - Snorkeling

it is unbelieveable that it is March already .... i can't believe this trip is going so fast !

in spite of the rough seas i wanted to get back in the water again ... i thought Chepes Beach was probably the most protected area that i can find here ..... it wasn't bad in close to shore, but it was choppy out on the reef ... but not that bad  :)

obviously a happy home for a lot of different colored Christmas Tree Worms ....
.....these are for you, Susan  :)

a curious young Queen AngelFish ...

this ParrotFish was just laying there on it's side on the sand .....  i wasn't sure if it was ok ... but as i approached, it swam away .....

on the other hand, these StopLight ParrotFish in their Initial Phase, were definitely not interested in 'resting'   ... they were in a feeding frenzie ...good to see so many of them ...

this Porcupine Fish was curious  ...

but was not about to come out and say hello ...he just hid in there and smiled at me ...

another red GlassEye Snapper, quite confident of itself ... possibly because he thought the Queen AngelFish would protect him ....

this Spotted Moray Eel provided me with some more 'Eel Time' ....

quite a bit smaller than the Green Moray Eel from last week... but still intriguing...

this Spotted Moray Eel only grows up to 3' ...

because of it's size, i felt more comfortable getting a little closer ... but possibly he wasn't that comfortable with me    :(

this is a Blue Chromis .. a small 3-4" fish, but quite bright, and stands out among the other fishes swimming over the top of the reef ....

the Orange Spotted FileFish .... love the 'spike' of the Dorsel Fin ...

you can actually see why it is called 'orange-spotted' in this photo ....

i'm not as good at my Sponge identification as fishes ... but this looks like a Lumpy Overgrowing Sponge ... not a very creative name ... nothing about the fact that it is PINK ??????  .... there is a color-coordinated Christmas Tree Worm in there too ...

this is a 'dead' Sea Urchin .... beautiful texture on the skeleton ...

a good day of snorkeling ...
