and so i begin again at P.A.W. Animal Sanctuary with Madi. Gavin and Judy are a couple that wanted to do a 'working vacation'; and he is a builder and is reinforcing and remodeling the property here. It is going to be beautiful, with a room for rent upstairs and also a dorm with 6 beds. But, as i well know after my own remodeling experiences, it's inconvenient to say the least, and very stressful for all involved; ... including the animals! So, in addition to managing the Sanctuary, taking care of her 'aging' mother, she is also juggling a huge building project. i sincerely do not know how she does it! She has a 'full house' of volunteers, she and her mom have had to move out of the house and into one of the rentals, and that is where i am staying also. i am truly part of the family now :)
she recently put in 2 new toilets and 2 showers, in anticipation of the additional renters. I started sanding the doors for the toilet stalls and actually started painting in there the first day.
Before i started painting, i wanted to take some 'before' pictures. when i went to get my camera, i realized i had left it on the plane from Dallas to Belize City!!!!! Totally disgusted with myself, i called American Airlines. My faith in 'man' has been restored; ... they had the camera in Belize City and would fly it out to me here on Caye Caulker! .... i can't say enough good things about American Airlines now :)
i worked late and when i got ready to go out, all the other volunteers were already gone. i walked through the streets trying to decide where i wanted to eat. i ended up at Wish Willy's, and 3 of the girls were there. it was a good opportunity to get to know them.
