9 Jan, Thurs

9 Jan, Thurs

After finally getting out of Kalamazoo, flying over Lake Michigan was a real treat.   It was frozen over .. at least at the south end that i saw ... mostly white, with patches of dark ice ... nice!    unfortunately i did  not have my camera .. it would have been a great photo to start off my blog with.   Palisades Power Plant was very evident and the only place where the water was NOT frozen.
i even saw a Polar Bear walking around  :)     ...i told the Flight Attendant that, and he said that at the Lincoln Park Zoo in Chicago, they had to put the Polar Bears INSIDE the last few days, it was too cold for them to be out ... serious ... since they are not feeding them seals, (thankfully), they don't have the fat built up to handle that much cold ... poor bears :(
it was very cloudy the entire trip.    this is all that i saw .... but at least it was blue skies and sunshine !

first view of the Islands of Belize:

but the trip went pretty well; with a slight glitch of my taxi driver not picking me up at the airport.  but i found another driver and i caught the last Water Taxi out to the Island.   it was a great reunion seeing Madi and her Mom again.   i met the rest of the volunteers:   Gavin and Judy, the couple who have been here since Nov.   Andrew, Amanda, Jim, Jess, Sandra, Sharon, Mani and Christina ... pretty much a full house.   Madi and i stayed up until 1am talking !
