A Day in the Highlands

so today i went to the Highlands of Isabela to a place called Rancho Valle Negro        .... i would call it a Bed and Breakfast Ranch, up on the volcano.

they have a really nice place there, with rooms and bungalos .....

they have a pool, a jacuzzi, pool table, lots of hammocks, horses, (including a 5month old colt) .... and lots of fruit trees, bananas, mangos, papaya, guava, .....

.....  it's owned by the same family that owns Volcano Hotel where i am staying.   Pablo and Veronica are very nice people.     Pablo took Sena for a horseback ride, and Veronica made me feel right at home, even fixed chicken rice soup ......  she speaks more English than most ... but it is so much 'mental' work to try to have a converation with someone in Spanish.   sometimes they just start speaking Spanish and i just nod   :(

... it was a nice place to relax.   it reminded me of Hacienda Tranquila in that it was very tranquil and there were cows and horses and i heard the Mockingbirds again.   it was very nice day away from the non-hussle of even the small village of Puerto Villamil with sand streets.

this is what the ash cinder roads look like going up to the volcano ....

on the way back home, i noticed there were more Flamingos in the quarry ... it looks nicer in this photo  :)   ...

really cloudy this evening with no sunset at all ...

one of the guys that is staying here, was inviting everyone to the Bar de Beto across the street on the beach, for a party tonight.    he was playing guitar.

around 9:30 i walked over.   ordered a drink for $7 at the bar and started talking to a guy from Seattle, and another guy from North Dakota ... it was nice to speak English and not have to work so hard at a converastion .....   :)

i stayed a couple of hours, ... it's hard for me to get into the music if you don't know the song, and you don't understand the words ...  and i couldn't afford to keep drinking .... so it was time for me to go back to my room ... but i lasted until almost midnight ...   :)
