Work Day Two - 11 Mar, Tues

WORK DAY TWO

back to RMP in the morning, Coltin and i started painting the recycle bins,  ....  when we heard sirens and saw the FireTruck stop just up the road  .....

sad news:   they eventually carried a body on a stretcher into the FireTruck ... it was a guy and he died ... the following is not confirmed:   he was just learning to scuba dive, and had a pre-existing heart condition ....

we painted all we could - they need to dry, then we can finish painting the bottoms ... tomorrow ... then the netting needs to be put on ...

we actually finished early, around 1:30, so i decided to go snorkeling right out front in Half Moon Bay; and headed out to the Submarine Dock ... i've snorkeled under there before and have found a lot of interesting marine life.  

the first thing i saw was this Green Moray Eel's tail ..

i was going around to find it's head when i looked down and saw this ... can you see it ?

i'm going to say this is another Mushroom ScorpionFish (like the one i saw in Utila)  ... but i wouldn't bet any money on that ID ..... a closer look ... poor baby, ....he's not so pretty .. :(

then i found my Green Moray Eel ... without his mouth open, he's kinda smiling, and  actually looks pretty in this photo,  ... don't you think ?   ...he was a big one !

at first i thought i saw a Spotted DrumFish ... but it didn't have any spots on it .... i've never seen this fish before, but was thinking i saw it in the book at some point ...something about a Hat ... when i looked it up ... it's a High Hat ... good name for this fish with a dorsal fin that sticks up like a hat !

then moved into shallower water and saw this Mermaid's Fan ... cute name huh?

i've never seen a HighHat Fish before, and now i see 2 of them ... you can tell this one is not the same, ... it has 'broken' stripes along it's sides ...

... and the markings around it's eyes !     ....all on such a tiny fish ... it was about 2" long  ...

ScorpionFish don't move much, so i went back to look at him again .... he was gone .....  i continued to look and look ... can you find him this time ?

 i moved out into deeper water and saw this large NeedleFish ...

and took this picture of the shore .... The Sundowner is to the left of that large yellow building ... and the 'town' is to the right ...

before i went back in, i stopped under the dock again ... and saw these 2 tiny fish ... they were just a blurrrrr ...

returned home, showered, and back down to the beach in town for the sunset  ...

i saw Ed there and he took this ...

then i walked a 1/4 block to The SunDowner and, since it is around the bay ... i got to watch the Sunset again :)

i met Mark, a friend of Patricia and Ron's, and we walked to Monkey Island for Taco Tuesday ... he ordered 2 ... i thought i could eat 4 .... i was wrong ... i took 2 home ... they were really good ... more 'stuff' in them than the ones on Caye Caulker  ... US$1 each   ...   :)
