WEST BAY PATROL

Oscar took Tony and i to West Bay this morning ... on the way we went outside the reef and visited with this old fisherman ... Oscar said he's out here all day, everyday ...in the tiny canoe, fishing ...  he says he catches marlin and other BIG fish from this little boat... that would be way too scary for me !

his catch this morning .... a very large LionFish .. caught at 130feet of water, i think he said ...there are several restaurants that have LionFish on their menus   :)

there were not very many people at the beach today .... but we managed to keep busy .... in and out of the water ...

i found a group of 6 Caribbean Reef Squid and was able to point them out to about 8 snorkelers who would have never spotted them ...they are difficult to see ...

i also pointed out this TrumpetFish to several people ... it's a good 'ice breaker' to introduce myself and give them our message ...

...saw a few other fishes as well

i was happy to see a Flamingo Tongue ... i saw so many in Utila, but few here ...

this is probably the same Rainbow ParrotFish i saw the other day ... damn he is ginormous (my new word for gigantic and enormous) ... he makes the Blue Tang look tiny !

today is Tony's last day of volunteering, so when we got back he was saying his 'goodbyes',  .... i was ready to leave when Nic asked me to help finish up another Recycle Bin .... he did most of the work ... i think i was just 'morale support'   :)

on my way home, i stopped to see the guy that sells seafood from a cooler in the street.  i don't have a very big/good freezer, so i didn't want to buy a whole pound of shrimp ... he obliged and sold me 1/2 pound for dinner tonight  :)

SunDowner then back home and fixed garlic and onion shrimp pasta ... so fresh, and so good :)

Angie, who has been getting me out at night is on Caye Caulker for a week,   so this was not a very exciting 'Friday Night' ... but i was ok with it  ....
